Indore Court Rules in Favor of IMC Over Karbala Ground Dispute
The Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has been declared the rightful owner of the 6.70-acre Karbala ground, following a ruling by the 15th District Judge Narsingh Baghel, Muslim Mirror reported today.
The court overturned a 2019 lower court decision favoring the Waqf Board, which claimed the land was granted for religious purposes 150 years ago.
IMC argued that only a small portion of the land was used for Muharram tazias and accused the defendants, including the Panch Muslim Karbala Committee, of attempting to encroach upon the property. Judge Baghel stated that the Waqf Board failed to provide adequate evidence for its claim, emphasizing that the disputed land falls under IMC jurisdiction. The ruling reverses the previous judgment, affirming IMC’s ownership rights.
