India: Deadly Blasts Rock Haryana Factory, Killing At Least 2
At least two people were killed and four others severely injured after a series of explosions rocked a factory in Gurugram, Haryana on Friday night, Xinhua reported today.
The blasts occurred at a facility that manufactured firefighting equipment, specifically fireballs.
According to local authorities, the explosions were caused by the ignition of explosive materials used in the production process. The intensity of the blasts was such that they were heard up to 5 km away, shattering windows of nearby homes and businesses. The factory was situated in an industrial area surrounded by residential housing.
The local administration has launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the deadly incident. Emergency services responded quickly, but were unable to prevent the tragic loss of life.
