Explosion from Heap of Firecrackers Kills 3, Injures over 30 in India’s Odisha

A tragic incident occurred during a Hindu religious festival in the eastern Indian state of Odisha, leaving at least 3 people dead and over 30 others injured.

The catastrophe unfolded on Wednesday night in the temple town of Puri, located about 63 km south of the state capital Bhubaneswar.

According to police reports, a heap of firecrackers unexpectedly exploded as a group of devotees were setting off celebratory fireworks. The blast sent shrapnel flying into the crowd, critically injuring many bystanders.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the deadly explosion during the religious festivities.
