Two Indian officers killed, several injured in Manipur attack
Two Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and several others critically injured in an attack by Kuki militants at a camp in Manipur’s Bishnupur district, Kashmir Media Service reported today.
It noted that the attack took place in the early hours of Saturday at the Indian Reserve Battalion camp where CRPF personnel were stationed after poll duty.
The self-claimed liberation guerrillas fired indiscriminately from hilltops and hurled bombs, resulting in the casualties.
Manipur has witnessed escalating violence since May 3, 2023, after a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ in the hill districts opposed the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.
