Indian authorities demolish house of heroic Muslim tunnel rescuer
Delhi authorities bulldozed the home of a Muslim man who had just months ago been hailed as a national hero for being part of a rescue mission to save 41 workers trapped in a collapsed Himalayan tunnel.
The home of rat-miner Wakeel Hasan was demolished as part of a demolition drive, which often target Muslim-majority neighborhoods and other vulnerable communities.
Feeling devasted and heartbroken, he stresses that his house became a target solely because he is a Muslim.
Amnesty International has slammed India’s use of bulldozers to mete out collective punishment against minority communities a violation of international human rights law.
