Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: Humans Are Created for Eternal Hereafter, Not Temporary World

On Wednesday, the 29th of Sha’ban 1447 AH, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Hosseini Shirazi held his daily scholarly session, answering attendees’ questions on various jurisprudential matters.

Referring to verse 26 of Surah Ar-Rahman, “All who are on it [the earth] will perish,” and a saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family), “I was created to remain and endure,” Ayatollah Shirazi explained that these statements are not contradictory.

He clarified that the Prophet’s teaching emphasizes that humans were not created for the fleeting world, which is perishable, but for the eternal and everlasting life of the hereafter.

Grand Ayatollah Shirazi further stressed that believers should focus on their eternal life in the hereafter, noting that this worldly existence serves merely as a preparation and gateway for what is to come.
