Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: In matters of people’s rights, God will not forgive until the rightful claimant forgives

The daily scholarly session of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Husayni Shirazi was held on Thursday, 7th Jumada al-Thani 1447.

As in previous sessions, His Eminence responded to participants’ questions on various jurisprudential issues.

Speaking about ḥaqq al-nās (the rights of people), Grand Ayatollah Shirazi stated that when a person wrongs another—such as by striking them—God grants the oppressed party a right over the one who committed the injustice.

He continued: When God grants a right to the oppressed, narrations state that in some cases, God Almighty will bestow so much upon the oppressed person that they willingly forgo their right.

His Eminence emphasized, however: God Himself has declared that unless the rightful claimant relinquishes their right, God will not forgive the wrongdoing.
