Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: Spiritual Rights of Others Must Be Reconciled by Appeasing the Affected Party

In his daily scholarly session on Monday, 27th Rabi’ al-Thani 1447 AH, Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Sadiq Hosseini Shirazi addressed questions from attendees on various Islamic jurisprudential issues.

On the topic of recompensing spiritual or moral rights owed to others (Haqq al-Nas), Grand Ayatollah Shirazi emphasized that when a person has wronged another in a spiritual or ethical sense—such as through backbiting, slander, insult, or oppression—the proper course of action is to seek the satisfaction of the affected individual.

His Eminence referred to traditional supplications and guidance which highlight that the resolution of such spiritual debts requires appeasing the person wronged, ensuring reconciliation, and restoring moral and social harmony.
