Grand Ayatollah Shirazi Declares Remembrance of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) as an Act of Worship

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Husseini Shirazi held another daily scholarly session on Tuesday, Dhu al-Hijjah 13, 1446 AH, where he addressed various jurisprudential questions from attendees.

Referencing verse 5 of Surah Al-Bayyinah, which states: “And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion,” Grand Ayatollah Shirazi emphasized that humans are commanded in this world to worship Almighty God.

He further elaborated that just as prayer (salat), fasting (sawm), and pilgrimage (Hajj) are acts of worship, so too is the remembrance (dhikr) of Amir al-Mu’minin, Imam Ali (peace be upon him), considered an act of worship.
