Residence of Supreme Marja Holds Imam Reza’s (peace be upon him) Martyrdom Anniversary
The honourable Residence of the Supreme Marja, Grand Ayatullah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, held a commemorative ceremony marking the sorrowful martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Redha (peace be upon him) on Wednesday, 23rd Dhu al-Qa’dah 1446 AH (May 21, 2025).
According to some traditions, the eighth Imam of Guidance was martyred on this day, in his absolute loneliness in the land of Toos, part of modern-day Khorasan in Iran.
The gathering followed Grand Ayatollah Shirazi’s daily scholarly session, where Hujjat al-Islam Najjarzadeh recited elegies and poetry honoring the eighth Imam. Devotees expressed their devotion to Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon him), reflecting on Imam Reza’s legacy of knowledge and guidance. The believers concluded the session by pleading with the Almighty Lord for the blessed reappearance of the Avenger of the Ale Muhammad, al-Imam al-Hujjat, peace and Divine blessings be upon him.
