Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: Islam Without Complete Faith Is Not Enough

Another daily scholarly session of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Hosseini al-Shirazi was held on Sunday, 21 Jumada al-Awwal. In this session, as in previous meetings, the Supreme Marja answered attendees’ questions regarding various jurisprudential issues.

His Eminence emphasized that the principle of Imamate is part of the fundamentals of religion, as the true religion is only the school of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).

Citing verse 19 of Surah Al-Imran and verse 14 of Surah Al-Hujurat, he stated that Islam is not merely submission; to have complete faith, the heart, tongue, and actions must be in harmony. Therefore, someone who believes in God but has incomplete faith is like someone who does not pray.

Grand Ayatullah Shirazi further added that the Quran differentiates between Islam and faith, asserting that being a Muslim without complete faith is insufficient unless one repents before death.
