Grand Ayatollah Shirazi Discusses Bribery During Daily Scholarly Session

In a recent scholarly session held on Wednesday, the 10th of Jumada al-Awwal, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadeq al-Hosseini al-Shirazi answered attendees’ questions on various jurisprudential issues.

During the session, his Eminence elaborated on the concept of bribery, stating, “Bribery is solely defined as the act of giving money to a judge so that he rules contrary to what has been revealed by God.”

He emphasized the prohibition of such acts, referencing the Quran, which states that both the giver and receiver of bribes will face punishment in the fires of Hell.

Furthermore, Grand Ayatollah Shirazi clarified that compensating someone for their work does not constitute bribery and is permissible.
