Grand Ayatollah Shirazi remarks on virtue of Holy Karbala’s Land during daily scholarly meeting

The daily scholarly meeting of Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Sadegh al-Hosseini al-Shirazi was held on Sunday, the 21st of Muharram. In this session, like the previous meetings, the Supreme Marja answered the questions of the attendees about various jurisprudential issues.

On the virtue of the land of Karbala, Grand Ayatollah Shirazi said: It is stated in the hadiths that there is no land like the land of Karbala, and there is no day like Ashura, as Imam al-Hassan al-Mujtaba, peace be upon him, said: “There is no day like your day, O Abba Abdillah.”

His Eminence continued: It is also mentioned in the narrations that Karbala is the only land on earth that will have the highest position in the Heaven.

He also emphasized: Although visiting Imam al-Hussein, peace be upon him, on the Day of Ashura is highly recommended and is greatly rewarded based on narrations, some scholars consider the highest-rewarding occasion for visitation and Ziyarah of Imam al-Hussein, peace be upon him, to be the Day of Arafa. These scholars have based their opinion on some of the hadiths from Ma’sumeen, which suggest that the Almighty God pays attention to and favours the pilgrims of Imam al-Hussain on the day of Arafa before his pilgrims in Arafat.
