Macron Urges Reduced Screen Time, Proposes Social Media Limits for Teenagers

French President Emmanuel Macron has called on high school students to put aside their mobile phones and spend more time reading, while proposing new restrictions on teenagers’ use of social media.
According to Agence France-Presse, Macron suggested banning access to social media platforms for children under the age of 15. He also proposed introducing a monthly “screen-free day” as part of broader efforts to address the impact of digital technology on young people.
The French leader said the measures aim to reduce the negative effects of excessive screen time on concentration, learning, and social development among adolescents.
The proposals come amid growing concern in France and other countries about the influence of digital platforms on youth behavior, mental health, and academic performance.
