France woke up Saturday to another shocking attack targeting a place of Islamic worship. Masked vandals stormed Al-Hidaya Mosque in Roussillon, southeast France, at dawn, smashing windows, destroying furniture, and covering its walls with hate-filled flyers.

The assault, which comes weeks after the desecration of Al-Rahma Mosque in Villeurbanne—where a burned Quran was found—has fueled alarm over a surge in anti-Muslim attacks. More than 79 incidents have been recorded in less than three months, marking a 70% increase from last year.

Despite the escalating threats, official responses remain muted, prompting the Grand Mosque of Paris to condemn the attack as a “premeditated hate crime” that endangers civil peace and undermines republican values. It urged authorities to protect Islamic sites and hold perpetrators accountable without delay.
