Seven Vehicles, Mosque Damaged in Suspected Hate Crime in Orono, Ontario

Authorities in Orono, Ontario, are investigating a suspected hate-motivated vandalism incident after seven vehicles and the entrance of a local mosque were damaged late Saturday night, Iqna.ir reported. The Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) responded to a call at approximately 10:30 p.m. at 111 Church Street North, where they found the damage.

In a Sunday press release, DRPS urged anyone with dashcam, CCTV, or cellphone footage from the area to come forward to assist the investigation. Police acknowledged the distress caused within the Muslim community and emphasized their commitment to addressing the incident seriously.

The investigation remains active, with police working closely with community leaders to provide support and ensure public safety. No arrests have been made, and the motive has not been officially confirmed, though the case is being treated as a suspected hate crime.
