Bangladesh Battles Surge in Dengue and Chikungunya Cases
……………

Bangladesh is facing a worsening health crisis as dengue and chikungunya spread simultaneously, straining hospitals and raising fears of a larger outbreak in the coming weeks, Reuters reported. Official data from the Directorate General of Health Services shows more than 33,800 dengue infections and 132 related deaths so far in 2025.

In the first week of September alone, at least 10 people died and over 1,500 patients were hospitalized with fever. Health officials warn chikungunya, re-emerging after years of absence, is intensifying the country’s battle against mosquito-borne diseases.
