Bangladesh to Launch Campaign Distributing Vitamin A-plus Capsules to Over 22M Children

The Bangladeshi government is preparing to launch a nationwide initiative to distribute Vitamin A-plus capsules to 22.6 million children aged six months to five years, Xinhua reported citing the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

On Saturday, tens of thousands of volunteers and health workers will be stationed at 120,000 permanent and temporary centers across the country to facilitate the campaign. The ministry has called on all parents and guardians of children within the specified age range to bring their kids to the nearest Expanded Program on Immunization vaccination center, community clinic, or other healthcare facilities to receive the capsules.

According to the ministry, Vitamin A not only helps prevent blindness but also lowers the mortality rate among children under five by approximately 25%.
