Traffic Accidents Claim Over 400 Lives in Bangladesh

A report from the Road Safety Foundation revealed that 426 people lost their lives and 813 were injured in 392 traffic accidents across roads, railways, and waterways in Bangladesh during September.

Among the deceased were 61 women and 53 children.

Motorcycle accidents were particularly deadly, with 179 incidents resulting in 179 fatalities, accounting for approximately 42% of all deaths. The report also noted eight waterway accidents, which claimed 11 lives, with four others injured and two still missing. Additionally, 17 train track accidents led to 13 deaths and nine injuries.

The foundation compiled this data from various national dailies, online news portals, and electronic media, highlighting the urgent need for improved road safety measures in the country.
