Ancient Pre-Inca Mummy Discovered During Gas Line Work in Peru’s Lima
……………..
Workers installing gas pipes in Lima, Peru, unearthed a more than 1,000-year-old mummy, according to archaeologists and the utility company Calidda. The remains, believed to be a boy aged 10 to 15, were found in a seated position beneath a street in the Puente Piedra district.
The tomb also contained pottery linked to the pre-Inca Chancay culture, active between the 11th and 15th centuries. Peru mandates archaeological oversight during excavation due to its rich heritage; over 2,200 similar finds have been reported by Calidda since 2004.
