SRW calls on Egypt to end sectarian measures against Iraqi students
Shia Rights Watch (SRW), an independent organization dedicated to protecting the rights of Shia Muslims around the world, has called on the Egyptian government to limit the racist and sectarian measures that Iraqi students studying in its universities are exposed to because of their religious beliefs.
In a statement received by Shia Waves Agency, the organization said that it had “received serious testimonies indicating that the Egyptian authorities are insisting on practicing sectarian discrimination against Iraqi students who are sent to study in their universities.”
SRW also called on the Iraqi authorities to “seriously deal with this issue by obliging the Egyptian authorities to comply with the rules in dealing with the affairs of Iraqi students who wish to study or who are studying in Egyptian universities.”
The Iraqi government has not yet commented on the organization’s statement.
