Arab League Stresses No Peace Without Palestinian State and End to Israeli Hostile Practices

The Arab League declared that peaceful coexistence in the Middle East hinges on establishing a Palestinian state and ending what it described as Israel’s “hostile practices,” Arab News reported.
This position was outlined in a resolution submitted by Egypt and Saudi Arabia and adopted during a meeting of Arab foreign ministers in Cairo on Thursday.
The resolution identified the failure to resolve the Palestinian cause and ongoing hostile actions by Israel as primary obstacles to regional peace. It emphasized that lasting peace, cooperation, and coexistence are unattainable while Israel continues to occupy Arab land or threatens further annexation.
The meeting coincided with intensified Israeli military operations around Gaza City and followed statements by Israel’s far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich advocating annexation of parts of the West Bank, aiming to undermine the prospect of a Palestinian state.
While Egypt and Jordan maintain peace treaties with Israel, and the UAE, Bahrain, and Morocco normalized relations under the 2020 Abraham Accords, the Arab League reaffirmed that any durable settlement must be based on a two-state solution aligned with the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative. This initiative offers full normalization of relations in exchange for Israel’s complete withdrawal from territories occupied since 1967.
Egypt further stated that unilateral security arrangements compromising regional stability would not be tolerated, underscoring the need for cooperative and balanced security frameworks.
