Egyptians hold special ceremonies to commemorate arrival of Imam Hussein’s holy head to Cairo
According to Egyptian media outlets, Egyptians and Shia followers of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, have begun special ceremonies to commemorate the arrival of the head of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, to its blessed location in his mosque in the al-Gamaliyah neighborhood in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
It news sources added that “the events for this occasion will continue until the last Tuesday of Rabi’ al-Akhir, corresponding to November 7th, 2023.”
It indicated that “Cairo these days embraces the largest religious gathering for the Shia followers of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, especially in the courtyard of Al-Hussein Mosque in al-Gamaliyah neighborhood.”
It pointed out that “the ceremonies are attended by a large number of loyalists to commemorate the arrival of the head of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and its settlement in the mosque known today as the mosque of the head of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.”
According to old Egyptian belief, the head of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, arrived in Cairo and settled in his historical mosque, but the narrations of the infallible Imams of Ahlbayt, peace be upon them, confirm the return of the holy head to the pure body where the shrine of the Master of Martyrs is buried in the holy city of Karbala.
