British Ambassador to Iraq visits Holy Karbala, expresses admiration over city development
The British ambassador to Iraq, Stephen Hitchen, said on Tuesday evening, during his visit to the holy city of Karbala and his meeting with the Governor Nassif Al-Khattabi, “Karbala is a unique and exceptional city”.
“My visit to Karbala carries the respect and appreciation of the British government and people to the holy shrines, the Iraqi government, and the local government,” Hitchen said in a statement followed by Shia Waves Agency.
He pointed out that “Holy Karbala has achieved great success in organizing the Arbaeen, which saw millions of visitors, including visitors from Britain,” adding that “we have seen a great and clear development in the province.”
For his part, the Governor of Karbala said: “The holy city of Karbala has begun to take its role in various fields, and it is a city of humanity for all communities because it derives its humanity from Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).”
