Al-Askari Holy Shrine covered in black in commemoration of Imam al-Hassan al-Askari’s martyrdom
The employees at the Al-Askari Holy Shrine have covered the walls in black in commemoration of the sorrowful martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Hassan al-Askari, peace be upon him.
The Secretariat-General of Al-Askari Holy Shrine said in a statement on its official website that its “employees have covered the walls of the holy shrine in black and hung banners with phrases of sadness and sorrow.”
Large numbers of Shia pilgrims are now walking towards the holy shrine of Imam al-Hassan al-Askari, peace be upon him, in Samarra to commemorate his painful martyrdom anniversary.
The Shia Waves correspondent said that “Service processions have set up along the roads to provide the honourable pilgrims with food and cold water and places where they can rest to resume their walk.”
It should be mentioned that the sorrowful martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Hassan al-Askari, peace be upon him, will be commemorated next Sunday, 8 of Rabi-u-Awwal, amid tight security procedures.
