Commemorative march towards Holy Najaf begins ahead of Holy Prophet’s Martyrdom
During the days leading up to Safar 28, many Shiites from around the world, especially the people of Iraq, travel on foot from different cities to holy Najaf to visit the holy shrine of Amir al-Mu’minin Ali bin Abi Talib, peace be upon him.
These pilgrims offer their condolences to the Master of the pious on the martyrdom of the Holy Prophet.
These days, the roads leading to Holy Najaf welcome a large number of on-foot pilgrims who will commemorate this mournful occasion on Thursday, September 14.
Dozens of mawakib have also set up along the routes leading to Najaf to serve the pilgrims and accommodate them in nearby residential houses.
It is worth mentioning that Ziyarah of Amir al-Mu’minin (peace be upon him) on the martyrdom anniversary of the Holy Prophet is considered one of the best and most recommended actions, according to some hadith from the Pure Infallible Ahlul-Bayt (peace be upon them).
This year, after the Arbaeen pilgrimage was marked with the unprecedented presence of millions of pilgrims in the holy city of Karbala, the march towards Holy Najaf started few days prior to the martyrdom of the Prophet of God, peace be upon him and his family, on 28th of Safar.
