Banu Asad processions hold symbolic funeral of Imam Hussein in Holy Karbala
Huge crowds participated in the mourning ceremony and symbolic funeral of the pure bodies of Karbala martyrs in Holy Karbala today to commemorate what the “Banu Asad tribe” did on the third day of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him).
According to historical sources, on this day, people of Banu Asad came to the holy city of Karbala on the insistence of their women and encountered the bodies of the martyrs.
At this moment, Imam Sajjad, peace be upon him, joined them and identified the beheaded bodies.
Like every year, mourning processions of Banu Asad set off after the noon prayers from the shrine of Sayyid Jodeh towards the Qibla Street of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, to reach the holy shrine and then continue the ritual in Baynul Haramayn and the shrine of al-Abbas, peace be upon him.
Similar ceremonies are held around the world on this day by devoted Shiites of Ahlul-Bayt to express condolences to the Imam of the time, may Allah hasten his reappearance.
