Nearly 16 million pilgrims entered Holy Karbala during first ten days of Muharram
The deputy chairman of the Iraqi Parliamentary Services Committee, Baqer Al-Saadi, announced on Monday that nearly 16 million pilgrims commemorated Ashura and mourning ceremonies in Holy Karbala for the first days of Muharram.
Al-Saadi said in a statement monitored by Shia Waves Agency, “we observed that the honorable pilgrims were provided with the best of services and that the security authorities conducted tights plans to guard the Holy Shrines and the pilgrims.”
He added that “based on our preliminary estimates, around 16 million pilgrims entered Holy Karbala, where they received full services to perform their pilgrimage to Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.”
It should be mentioned that hundreds of thousands of Shia loyalists from Arab, Islamic and European countries arrived in Holy Karbala to commemorate martyrdom of Imam Hussein and his brother Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas, peace be upon them.
