Shia Muslims worldwide hold “Night of the Lonely” ceremony
On the occasion of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) and his faithful companions’ Ashura Night, the Night of the Lonely, the holy city of Karbala and all the countries and cities where the lovers of Ahlul-Bayt live were laden with mourning and grief.
Hosseini mourners around the world mourned by lighting candles and performing other rituals on this night while attending the holy Shrines, mosques, Hosseiniyahs and Majalis.
The mourners lamented on the martyrs of Karbala until midnight and shed tears over the captivity and displacement of the children of the martyrs and the families of the Household of the Prophet.
The holy city of Karbala had an indescribable atmosphere where a large number of Hosseini mourners gathered at the land of the epic makers of the Karbala plain.
Thousands of Hosseini mourners commemorated the Night of the Lonely ceremony in the holy shrine of Imam Hussein and the area between the Shrines from the evening of the 10th of Muharram.
The mourners held candles or torches and held a special mourning ceremony for this night, honoring the memory of the Night of the Lonely in Karbala.
