Indian Shias present petition to UN to pressure Saudi regime to rebuild Al-Baqee Cemetery
Hundreds of followers of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) in a number of Indian cities have signed a unified petition, calling on human rights organizations and Islamic governments to urgently take action to pressure Saudi Arabia to rebuild the pure graves in Jannat al-Baqi.
Indian media reports, followed by Shia Waves Agency, said that “Widespread demands from the Shias in India launched in the form of signing a unified petition calling for the rebuilding of the graves of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) in Baqi’ al-Gharqad.”
They added that, “Hundreds of loyal Shias participated in campaigns to collect signatures in several Indian cities and regions, with the aim of removing injustice and oppression inflicted upon the holy graves of the Infallible Imams.”
The media sources said that, “This petition will be delivered to the United Nations to intervene and put pressure on Saudi Arabia to rebuild the pure graves,” noting that, “The believers are waiting for human rights organizations, their country’s government, and Islamic governments in the world to intervene politically and diplomatically to make their dream a reality.”
These campaigns and peaceful protests come in wake of the calls raised by the Supreme Religious Authority, His Eminence, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, to intensify efforts to reconstruct the Baqee Cemetery.
