Shia Muslims across the world are commemorating the 20th of Jumada al-Thani, the birth anniversary of Lady Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her), with large-scale religious ceremonies, processions, and cultural programmes in Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Lebanon, and diaspora communities.
According to reports viewed by Shia Waves Agency, the anniversary—known as the Wilada of Sayyida Fatima (peace be upon her)—highlights her role as the daughter of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon her and her pure family), the wife of Imam Ali (peace be upon him), and the mother of Imam Hasan, Imam Husayn, Lady Zaynab, and Lady Umm Kulthum (peace be upon the all). Classical narrations preserved by Shaykh al-Saduq recount that Lady Khadija (peace be upon her) spoke with the unborn Fatima (peace be upon her) during pregnancy, and that four noble women—Sarah, Asiya, Maryam, and Kulthum—assisted at the miraculous birth. Traditions state that the newborn testified to God’s oneness, the Prophet’s mission, and the guardianship of her family.
In Najaf, thousands of pilgrims from across Iraq are convening to visit the Shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him), where a special ceremony will be held on Friday to hoist a new flag bearing the name of Lady Fatima (peace be upon her) atop the golden dome. Images released by the shrine administration show a highly spiritual atmosphere as worshippers gathered for prayers, Qur’an recitations, and congratulatory processions marking the joyous occasion.
In Qom, celebrations continue at the residence of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husayni al-Shirazi, with affiliated centers worldwide— including branches in Europe, Africa, and North America—holding lectures, poetry recitations, and women’s programs in honor of the Wilada.
Additional observances were also reported in Karbala, Mashhad, Hyderabad (India), Gilgit-Baltistan, and Shia communities in the UK and Australia, where mosques and Hussainiyas are holding night gatherings emphasizing Lady Fatima’s unmatching virtues and sacrifices for the guidance of humanity.
