Shia Muslims begin commemoration of Imam al-Jawad’s martyrdom anniversary

Shia Muslims across Iraq and beyond have begun commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Muhammad al-Jawad (peace be upon him), the ninth Imam of the Ahl al-Bayt, observed annually on the 29th of Thul-Qi’dah. Massive crowds have gathered in Holy Karbala and Kadhimiya to mark the sorrowful occasion with mourning processions and religious rituals.

In Holy Karbala, mourners have filled the shrines of Imam al-Hussain and Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them), as well as the area between them. The ceremonies have included religious lectures, recitations, and a symbolic funeral procession.

In Holy Kadhimiya, where the Imam is buried, millions have participated in lamentations and chest-beating rituals. Pilgrims have arrived from across Iraq and various countries, expressing their grief and devotion to the Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon them.

These commemorations have been held in line with guidance from religious authorities, including Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Shirazi, and have been broadcast live by Imam Hussein Media Group in multiple languages.
