Imam Hussein Holy Shrine covered in black in commemoration of Imam Ali’s sorrowful martyrdom

The holy courtyard of Imam Hussein’s shrine has been draped in black in preparation for commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him), and coinciding with the day the Imam was struck with a poisoned sword on his head.
Black banners have been hung, and expressions of mourning echo throughout the shrine as devotees prepare for the solemn occasion.
Preparations began early within the sacred site, as entrances and corridors were adorned with black flags inscribed with elegiac phrases reflecting the profound grief.

The courtyard has also witnessed mourning ceremonies and the arrival of pilgrims from various cities to mark the anniversary in an atmosphere filled with sorrow and reverence.
Imam Hussein Shrine is set to host religious lectures and mourning gatherings that highlight Imam Ali’s (peace be upon him) legacy and his unwavering stance for justice and righteousness.
