12th international art exhibition ‘Mashq al-Arbaeen’ kicks off at Kashmir Arts Centre

The ‘Greater Kashmir’ online newspaper reported on the launch of the 12th edition of the international art exhibition ‘Mashq al-Arbaeen’ at the Kashmir Arts Center earlier this week.

The exhibition, held annually to commemorate the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, showcases various forms of visual arts, calligraphy, and photography to express the grief and mourning of this event.

The event features four sections: calligraphy, visual arts, photography, and poetry. Abdullah Zubair, a humanities researcher at DPS Srinagar University, described the ambiance as somber and peaceful, with the entire space bathed in black, highlighting the role of calligraphy, which blends visual beauty with meaning, enhancing the depth of the message conveyed.

Additionally, the exhibition incorporates modern technologies, such as AI-generated photographs, demonstrating the evolving nature of emotional expression through time. The art offers visitors a window into the emotions evoked by the tragedy of Karbala, connecting the historical event with the present-day Arbaeen Pilgrimage.
