Canada: Shia Muslims hold Husseini procession to honour Holy Arbaeen of Imam Hussein
The city of Markham, in the Canadian province of Ontario, hosted a mourning procession in commemoration of the Holy Arba’een anniversary of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.
The event was organized by the Imam Hussain Mosque and Foundation in the city, beginning with a mourning ceremony attended by a large gathering of Shia Muslims residing in Markham and nearby areas.
After the mourning ceremony concluded, the Arbaeen procession made its way through the streets of the city, with a broad participation from the Shia community.
Participants engaged in the ritual of chest-beating (latmiyyah), expressing their deep sorrow and appreciation for the great sacrifice made by Imam Hussain and his family, peace be upon them, in Karbala.
The procession featured slogans that reflected the values of justice and sacrifice embodied by the Imam and his honorable companions, peace be upon them.
These events serve to renew the commitment to the principles of Imam Hussain, peace be upon him, and emphasize the importance of continuing to spread his message against oppression and tyranny.
