Imam Ali Holy Shrine covered in black in preparation for Holy Prophet’s Martyrdom anniversary

The Holy Shrine of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, in Holy Najaf has been covered in black banners in preparation for the commemoration of the painful martyrdom anniversary of the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him and his family.

Shia Waves correspondent in the holy city reported that “the Secretariat-General of the holy shrine has declared a state of public mourning with the arrival of this painful anniversary of the martyrdom of the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him and his family.”

He added that “the holy shrine has prepared various mourning programs that will continue for several days to commemorate this painful occasion, amidst expectations of a massive turnout for the observance.”

Honourable pilgrims to the holy shrine told Shia Waves Agency that “remembering this significant tragedy aims to highlight the extent of the suffering endured by the Holy Prophet and the family of Prophethood at the hands of tyrants and oppressors.”
