Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: All attempts to erase Holy Ashura and Arbaeen rituals have failed

The Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Al-Husseini Al-Shirazi, affirmed that all attempts to erase the rituals associated with Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, particularly the Arbaeen Pilgrimage, have failed, regardless of the efforts made by tyrants in this regard.

In remarks published on his office’s website, he noted that the Ba’ath regime in Iraq had previously bombed pilgrims walking to Karbala during the Arbaeen Pilgrimage over twenty years ago, resulting in a horrific massacre. However, these atrocities did not succeed in extinguishing the flame of this sacred pilgrimage.

He added that after the change of regime in Iraq, approximately thirty million pilgrims participated in the Arbaeen Pilgrimage, walking to Holy Karbala, which clearly demonstrates the people’s will and determination to revive these sacred rituals.

His Eminence pointed out that these events reflect what the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his family, foretold, representing the Divine Will surrounding Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and his great Cause, which remains eternal through the ages.
