Western journalists share their personal experience during Holy Arba’een Pilgrimage
Following their coverage of the Holy Arba’een Pilgrimage of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, several foreign journalists shared their impressions and experiences of this significant occasion.
American journalist Tommy Driscoll expressed his astonishment and admiration for the pilgrimage, noting that it was his first time visiting Holy Karbala.
In a statement, Driscoll said: I came here specifically to witness this extraordinary event, something I was not familiar with and had never heard of before. It’s amazing to see such a large crowd of peaceful people coming to Karbala annually. I was also impressed by the free food and drinks provided, along with the rest areas offered to the pilgrims who walk long distances on foot.
British journalist Wichard Collet described the pilgrimage as an incredible experience, saying, “I am amazed by the large number of Shia Muslims participating in this event. I visited many of the Mawakib and spoke with pilgrims and volunteers. The level of participation and generosity here in Karbala has shown me that it goes beyond mere attendance and observation.”
Spanish journalist Sergio Arce shared his experience of arriving in Karbala, stating, “I arrived in Iraq four days ago and reached Karbala at four in the morning. During my journey to Karbala, I saw large numbers of pilgrims, television channels, and social media influencers covering this sacred event.”
These impressions highlight the profound impact of the Holy Arbaeen Pilgrimage on foreign journalists and shed light on the extensive organization and collective spirit that characterize this significant religious event.
