The Iranian Ministry of Interior announced that nearly two million Iranian pilgrims have crossed the Iran-Iraq border to participate in the Holy Arbaeen Pilgrimage of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.
Majid Mir Ahmadi, Deputy Minister of Interior and Head of the Central Arbaeen Committee, stated that the latest statistics indicate that around 1.5 million Iranian and foreign pilgrims have crossed the Iranian border into Iraq so far.
He added that more than 2.63 million Iranians have registered for the Arbaeen Pilgrimage so far, emphasizing that the Iraqi Ministry of Interior is fully cooperating in all areas, and joint Arbaeen headquarters are being managed effectively.
Ahmadi also mentioned that he visited Iraq on Saturday and met with officials from the National Union of Kurdistan (PUK), as it was agreed that pilgrims will be transported free of charge through the Bashmakh border to Sulaymaniyah until the day of Arbaeen.
Mir Ahmadi encouraged pilgrims to cross through the Tamarchin, Bashmakh, and Khosravi borders, noting that the Bashmakh and Tamarchin borders enjoy moderate weather with temperatures about 20 degrees cooler than other border crossings, and the roads are good, ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims at these borders.
