Shia community organizes Husseini Majlis in Iselin, USA
A group of Hussaini youth in Iselin, New Jersey, organized a Majlis (mourning gathering) for Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, as part of their preparations for the Holy Arbaeen commemoration. The event was held at the “Ali Akbar Youth Center.”
Organizers reported a large turnout from the Shia community, who gathered to participate in the remembrance of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him. The Majlis began with a presentation on the noble life of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and the recitation of Husayni poems, followed by religious sermons highlighting aspects of the Imam’s life and his sacrifice in Holy Karbala.
A group of young volunteers took charge of organizing the event, preparing the space to offer hospitality and services to the attendees. The Majlis included the recitation of elegies and latmiyahs (chest-beating rituals), adding a solemn and impactful atmosphere to the occasion.
Simultaneously, the organizers documented the event through a photo report, capturing moments of the gathering and the atmosphere that prevailed during this significant occasion, reflecting the importance of commemorating the rituals of Imam Hussein and reinforcing his values and principles among the younger generations.
