Thousands of Azerbaijani pilgrims heading to Iraq to participate in Holy Arbaeen Pilgrimage
Thousands of Azerbaijani pilgrims have headed to Iraq through the Iranian border crossings to participate in the Holy Arbaeen Pilgrimage of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, in the holy city of Karbala.
Video footage, captured by Shia Waves Agency, shows large crowds of Azerbaijani pilgrims at the Iranian border crossings, vying to cross into Iraq and join the Hussaini processions.
In previous years, the Azerbaijani government facilitated the participation of its citizens in the Arbaeen Pilgrimage by establishing a specialized religious authority.
This body is responsible for organizing Azerbaijani citizens’ visits to the holy shrines in Iraq and managing Hajj and Umrah rituals.
In recent years, between 30,000 to 35,000 Azerbaijani pilgrims have participated in the Arbaeen Pilgrimage, reflecting their strong devotion to this significant religious occasion.
