Shias of Pakistan hold annually mourning procession “Yaum-e-Ali” to commemorate martyrdom of Imam Ali
The Pakistani television network “Samaa” reported the annual mourning procession held to commemorate the martyrdom of Amir al-Mu’minin Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) across the country.
The report mentioned that the mourning ceremonies, known locally as “Yaum-e-Ali,” took place on the 21st of Holy Ramadan, starting with a symbolic procession from the historic Mochi Gate in Mubarak Haveli town in Lahore, culminating at the Husseiniyah Karbala Jami Shah in Kong Breksha town during Iftar time.
Strict security measures were implemented for the occasion, with over 5,000 security personnel deployed along the procession route. Precautionary steps included closing markets along the route and conducting thorough inspections of participants.
Security measures included closing gates like Mochi, Delhi, and Akbari to traffic, setting up barriers and barbed wire on nearby roads, and installing 180 security cameras for monitoring the procession flow.
Senior police officials, including Abdul Wahab Jadoon, emphasized the presence of police personnel near buildings overlooking the procession route and urged participants to carry their identification papers for their safety and security.
It should be mentioned that more than four million pilgrims commemorated the painful anniversary of the martyrdom of the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali, peace be upon him, in Holy Najaf, Iraq.
