Holy Karbala-based Misbah Al-Hussein Foundation continues its “Holy Karbala Vision” studies
By 2030, the holy city of Karbala is expected to receive more than “50 million” pilgrims during the Holy Arbaeen, according to a study conducted by Misbah Al-Hussein Foundation for Relief and Development.
According to the study, the numbers of pilgrims participating in the commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, during the past ten years have been increasing, with millions of Iraqi, Arab, and foreign pilgrims flocking to the holy city.
The Holy Karbala-based Misbah Al-Hussein Foundation said a press release that a significant effort has been made by its development project team, under the supervision of Hujjat-ul-Islam wa-al-Muslimeen Sheikh Mustafa Al-Mahdi, to assess the city’s needs for essential services during the pilgrimage.
The study, which involved extensive official discussions and sessions, concluded that the number of pilgrims is expected to exceed 50 million during the Arbaeen pilgrimage in 2030.
The foundation’s project is considered unique, as it covers all service sectors catering to pilgrims from around the world who come to commemorate the great pilgrimage in the holy city of Karbala.
The foundation confirmed that the project team discussed various service sectors such as electricity, transportation, water, food, municipal services, and housing for the honourable pilgrims, drawing on the expertise of experts in these vital areas.
The project “Holy Karbala Vision 2023: To accomedated 50M pilgrims during Holy Arba’een” is based on the vision of the Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayed Sadiq Al-Husseini Al-Shirazi, who anticipates the arrival of more than 50 million pilgrims and calls for providing necessary facilities to accommodate this large number of pilgrims.
