Holy Karbala now receives more than 80M pilgrims around the year, Governor announces
The Governor of the Holy City of Karbala, Nasif Jasim Al-Khattabi, has announced that more than 80 million visitors arrive in the province annually, with a significant increase in visits on Fridays.
During a televised interview followed by Shia Waves Agency, Al-Khattabi explained that “the democratic process has shown the will of the community and the opinion of the public, with efforts varying from one province to another.” He emphasized that “the public has chosen based on achievements and services.”
He mentioned that “the Ministry of Planning has estimated the financial resources for the province at around 1.3 million Iraqi dinars,” adding, “We eagerly await the results of the population census.”
Al-Khattabi confirmed that “the approximate number of visitors now exceeds 80M throughout the year, with around 25M visitors during the Arba’een Pilgrimage alone,” emphasizing that “Holy Karbala is open to all visitors from inside Iraq and around the world.”
The Governor concluded that “Fridays now witness millions of visits,” expressing his pride in the presence of visitors during these blessed days of Ramadan.
