Millions of mourners hold symbolic funeral of Imam Musa Al-Kadhim
With a broad participation of millions of mourners, Holy Kadhimiya witnessed the largest funeral procession for the symbolic coffin of Imam Al-Kadhim, peace be upon him.
Millions of Shia Muslims—from Iraq and other neighboring and world countries—carried out today, Tuesday, a symbolic funeral procession to commemorate the sorrowful martyrdom anniversary of Imam Musa Al-Kadhim, peace be upon him.
The mourners emphasized that “these ceremonies are held every year to honor the memory of the Infallible Imam Musa Al-Kadhim, peace be upon him, and to respond to his call for support and to revive his mourning on the anniversary of his martyrdom at the hands of tyrannical rulers.”
They emphasized to Shia Waves Agency that “the tragedy of the martyrdom of Imam Al-Kadhim, peace be upon him, is one of the greatest calamities that have befallen the Islamic nation, due to the pains, prisons, and persecution the Imam faced from the enemies of religion and humanity, who persecuted Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, and deprived them of their rights.”
Earlier, the Supreme Religious Authority, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Al-Husseini Al-Shirazi, confirmed that any practice or activity that honors the status of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, and commemorates their great memory is considered part of the obligatory rituals that should be observed by the Shia followers.
