Pakistan urges int’l intervention against India’s move on Kashmir’s special status; Top Shia cleric voices criticism

Pakistan on Saturday rejected the top Indian court’s ruling on the status of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, requesting intervention from three major international organizations.

Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani has written to the United Nations (UN), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the European Union (EU) to draw their attention to the recent Supreme Court of India ruling upholding the Indian government’s decision to revoke the special status of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir in 2019.

President of Ulema Maktab e Ahlul Bayt, Allama Seyed Hasnain Abbas Gardezi made a statement against the biased decision of the Indian Supreme Court to end the special status of disputed region of Kashmir.

He has emphasized that there is no hope for humanity and justice from the Indian institutions and the government.

According to Allama Gardezi, Modi’s ideology has taken India hostage and the violent thinking of Hindutva has swayed the Indian Supreme Court.

He further pointed out that India is targeting civilians by violating the Line of Control (LoC) to cover up the serious human rights violations in disputed Jammu and Kashmir, and its internal weaknesses.
