British newspaper “The Sun” publishes new article about Wadi Al-Salam Cemetery in Holy Najaf
The British newspaper ‘The Sun’ has published a new article about Wadi Al-Salam cemetery in Holy Najaf, Iraq.
The newspaper said in its article, followed by Shia Waves Agency, that “the cemetery is visited by millions of pilgrims each year and contains the remains of prophets, royals and scientists.”
It added that “the size of the cemetery is one of the small town- spanning over 1,500 acres, accounting for 13 per cent of Najaf’s size, sprawling further every day.”
“Holding more than six million bodies, it is larger in population than some countries like Norway, Finland or Denmark”, the article continued.
It elaborated that “the site is extremely sacred to Shia Muslims because of its close proximity to Imam Ali Holy Shrine which houses the tomb of the first Shia Infallible Imam, Ali ibn Abi Talib, peace be upon him.”
