Ayatollah Shirazi refutes common saying widely used by Shia followers of Ahlulbayt
In his daily scholarly meeting that was held yesterday, the Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husaini al-Shirazi, refuted the common saying which states that “Every day is Ashura and every land is Karbala,” asserting that it contradicts the words of the infallible Imam who emphasized the nobility of this great day.
This saying, whose author is unknown, is used by the followers of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, who attribute it to the infallible Imams, peace be upon them.
During the scientific session held at his honorable home in the holy city of Qom, His Eminence said: “The saying ‘Every day is Ashura and every land is Karbala’ does not exist in any book of narrations and was not said by the infallible Imam, peace be upon him.”
Grand Ayatollah Shirazi explained that “the correct thing to say is ‘There is no day like your day, O Abu Abdullah’ which is narrated from Imam al-Hassan al-Mujtaba, peace be upon him.”
His Eminence added that “the Holy Land of Karbala has been honored above all other lands, even the land of Mecca.”
Grand Ayatollah Shirazi stressed on the followers of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, to adhere strictly to what is narrated from the Imams of guidance, peace be upon them, and to also adhere to their recommendations in reviving the holy rituals of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.
