Iraq’s Umrah and Hajj Commission confirms large number of buses to transport pilgrims

The chairman of Iraq’s Supreme Commission for Hajj and Umrah, Sheikh Sami Al-Masoudi, confirmed that “The buses allocated by the government will be in service to transport the honorable pilgrims to the holy city of Karbala and then back to their provinces.

The commission said in a statement, received by Shia Waves Agency, that “Sheikh Al-Masoudi met with the governor of the holy city of Karbala, Nasif Al-Khattabi, the security commanders in the province and officials responsible for organizing the movement of pilgrims to discuss mechanisms of transportation, following sharp rise in numbers of pilgrims.”

According to the statement, Al-Masoudi urged all sides intensify their work during the coming days, during which millions of pilgrims are expected to arrive in Holy Karbala.

The deputy governor of Holy Karbala, Ali al-Mayali, confirmed on Wednesday that the province reached its peak; pointing out that the number of pilgrims this year is expected to reach 30 million from inside and outside Iraq.
