Al-Jazeera recently reported on Rafiq Tamboli, a 33-year-old Muslim truck driver from Qureshi Nagar in Mumbai, who has been missing for two years after being intercepted by cow vigilantes in Maharashtra.
The incident occurred on June 4, 2021, when Rafiq was transporting meat from Daund to Mumbai.
Cow vigilantism, driven by protecting cows considered holy by some Hindus, has seen a rise in mob lynching cases in India since 2014.
According to friends and Family of Tamboli the situation feels hopeless. Indirectly acknowledging, that none of them expect any change or hope to come soon.
